Up-to-date team news from injury guru Ben Dinnery
For Swansea, Garry Monk will be hoping to build upon last weekend’s impressive victory at Old Trafford but admits complacency is a worry.
"There is a concern, which is why I've stressed [this] to them. We know how important it is to follow up. There are no guarantees but if we can get preparations as best as possible it gives you a chance of delivering a performance you're happy with and you can win a game.”
Frederico Fernandez and Tom Carroll could come straight into the Swansea squad although the Argentine defender is awaiting international clearance following his move from Napoli. Marvin Emnes, Leon Britton and Jay Fulton (all knee) are all expected to miss out while Rory Donnelly is still recovering from ankle surgery. After his impressive second debut which produced a goal and an assist Gylfi Sigurdsson has continued his promising preseason form adding a welcome creative spark to the exciting Swansea attack while attracting deserving accolades from Monk:
"He is a very clever player. He gives us that bit of quality with a set-piece or a finish that we might have missed and we're delighted to have him.” Garry Monk
Burnley come into the game on the back of an opening day defeat against Chelsea who afforded them a master class in ruthless efficiency; a performance which called into question Sean Dyche’s traditional 4-4-2 formation which left them exposed. That being said, the Clarets boss is unlikely to lose faith just yet in his methods which served so well during his promotion season. Burley have no fresh injury concerns heading into this game; Sam Vokes (ACL) remains the only long-term absentee with Lukas Jutkiewicz likely to partner Danny Ings up front. New signing Stephen Ward could feature for the first time.
