TSW Fantasy Football League: Week 1 Update

Who's top of the pile after the first round of fixtures?

It's not very often that I mourn my lack of faith in Steve Bruce's Hull City. James Chester scoring a winning goal and keeping a clean sheet at the weekend, however, meant that I was very much rueing my controversial decision to go with three Everton defenders for this weekend's lineup. That being said if they'd have kept a clean sheet I'd have been laughing!

After the first round of fixtures the official TSW fantasy team is nestled safely in upper-mid table (39th of 136 teams with more joining all the time), and we're confident of a push up the table as Everton get back to keeping clean sheets. My unheralded system of three defenders from the same team is definitely risky, but seeing as they kept the third most clean sheets of any team last season I'm pretty confident in my thinking. Plus, two of them are Seamus Coleman & Leighton Baines, who are hardly shy in getting forward!

As you can see from the tables above, it already looks like the FC Lost Boyos team and TheSwanseaWay are already in for a close season, while MelynJacks really has started at an absolutely incredible pace. If he keeps that up it'll be hard to see anyone catching him!

Abominable Snowman leads the chasing pack who are some ten points back (a gap easily recoverable in fantasy football terms), with BlackJack Rangers & Totally Jack keeping him company for now. Can anyone reel in the Snowman in one week?

Down towards the bottom of the table and it's not pleasing reading for Jack Pastards, the team put together by Rhys Owain Williams as an experiment for TSW (read the excellent article accompanying the team's creation here).

They trail SeaSwans C by seven points, before the pack starts to tighten up with Borrussia Teeth,  the excellently named Murder-On-Zidanes-Floor  and Nics Knights FC all within a point of each other.

Who will finish top come May? Well there's a lot of football to be played between now and then but anything is possible.

Well, almost anything - I don't see Jack Pastards making a surge for the title somehow!

I'll be posting an update of how the league is shaping up every week. Remember to keep your team updated to be in with the best chance of getting the most points!
