Gambian given week's trial at Swansea

Swedish-based forward aiming to impress at the Liberty

As exclusively revealed by TSW yesterday, young Gambian forward Modou Barrow has traveled to meet the Swans, and we can now confirm this is on a week long trial where the Swans will cast their eye over the player and assess whether he has what it takes to be a Swansea City player. He'd previously been linked to Bolton earlier this year but for whatever reason that didn't happen - let's hope their loss is our gain!

Whether he makes the grade remains to be seen, but TSW obviously wishes him luck during his stay in Swansea. An excellent footnote is that he's tweeted himself the hashtag "#BarrowTelli" - in my opinion for the right price he's worth signing purely for comedy value based on that, and would surely fit right in with Marv, Wilf, Wayne, Leon, Dwight, Jeff and all the other nattily named players in our squad.

Obviously I don't actually think we should sign a player based on a hashtag. Still, a sense of humour is rare in footballers nowadays and this kind of thing always makes me smile...

This video (below) shows the kind of thing he's capable of and stats of 19 starts, 10 goals and 8 assists in 2014 aren't to be sniffed at - regardless of the league they're accrued in.

Again, good luck to him! Has anyone seen him play? Do we have a secret fanbase in Sweden? Get in touch!
