Swansea linked with "Boris from Costa Rica"

Nattily named Costa Rican World Cup midfielder Yeltsin Tejeda is the latest defensive midfielder to be linked with the Swans

Another day, another rumour, and this one even has a nice textbook bit of transfer gossip info with it! In-keeping with other similar claims such as "my brother's dog's mate's owner's sister saw him in a cafe by the stadium" and "a newspaper with a red top said it so must be true", today's rumour has the excellently-monikered Yeltsin Tejeda abandoning all-but-done talks with French club Evian to instead fly to meet Swansea representatives in London:

Costa Rican international Yeltsin Tejeda was set to join Evian on a four year contract yesterday after a fee had been agreed with his club Saprissa.

The player arrived in Geneva only to take a flight to London for talks with Swansea rather than closing the deal with Evian.

ETG have told the player that he has until today to show his face or else they will abandon signing him.

His agent is responsible for this shift and Swansea have yet to agree a fee with Saprissa.

Firstly, a word on his name. "Yeltsin"?! Outstanding. Obviously named after the former Russian leader Boris, I've already decided that if we sign him that's what I'm going to call him. What else do I know about him? Serendipitously, he made his debut for Costa Rica against Cuba (I bet his parents loved that), and he looked very tidy indeed at this summer's World Cup. What's more, he's only twenty-two and given he's still currently playing his football in the Costa Rican league it's been reported any prospective fee would be less than a million. That's damn cheap if he turns out to be even half tidy.

With the transfer window still ten days from closing there's certain to be more movement in the near future in terms of players coming in. It now seems certain at least one of the additions will be a defensive midfielder. Who that is though remains anyone's guess.
