Man Utd's Phil Jones: "Swansea is a massive game"

Man Utd defender reveals Man Utd have been poring over videos of their own training sessions in preparation for the big kick-off

With the season opener away at Manchester United creeping ever closer, the attention of our opponents has now switched from their final warm-up game (a 2-1 win over Valencia last night), to the Swans as preparations begin in earnest.

Van Gaal has overhauled almost everything at United - notably the training methods, team selection and formation, and it's no surprise that Phil Jones has revealed just how extensively Van Gaal has had his players analysing their performances. Their focus has now switched to Swansea, and you can bet that he's doing extensive work ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener in order to effectively combat our main strengths.

Defender Jones had this to say on the upcoming match:

"It’s a massive game and all the lads are looking forward to it – this is why we work hard in pre-season.
"It’ll be another tough encounter against Swansea but we want to start with a bang and hopefully get three points, so we’ll evaluate today’s game [the win over Valencia] and prepare right for Saturday."

Whether the Swans will be able to spring a surprise is up for debate, but you can bet on our part The Monk has left no stone unturned as he bids to prepare his own squad for what will undoubtedly be a seriously tough test.
