Sigurdsson hopes red card was "last in his career"

Swansea's attacking midfielder is chomping at the bit following an enforced three-game absence

Having picked up the first red card of his professional career against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup, Gylfi Sigurdsson is keen to make amends:

“It was the first and hopefully the last red card of my career. It’s the worst feeling as a footballer when you’re fit and ready to play but you’re sat in the stand or watching on TV because you’re suspended.
“You can’t do anything to help, and it’s really frustrating. Hopefully I can release some of that frustration in a positive way on Saturday.”

Sigurdsson has clearly been as frustrated as any Swansea fan that he's had to miss three matches, and feels a win against United would help turn our form around:

"Personally it’s been very difficult to watch on from the stands, especially the Sunderland game when we were on top but couldn’t get three points.  It has been frustrating for the boys too because we haven’t got the results we wanted. But you go through these types of patches in the season when things don’t go your way.
“We need to turn it around and a win against United would certainly do that. We beat them on the opening day of the season and it was a great start for us. We went on a good run after that and we’ll look to do the same this time around.
“While it was a fantastic result at Old Trafford for us, United are different now. They are more settled and are winning games and grinding out results – like we saw at Preston in the FA Cup on Monday. They’ve found their rhythm and have some great forward players who can turn games around, and at the back they’ve got quality in (David) de Gea, who is having a fantastic season.
“We have got to get better if we want to get a result against them. We lost a bit of form after Christmas but I’m confident we will bounce back.”

Let's hope he's right.
