Garry Monk wins Barclays Manager Of The Month!

Swansea's supremo wins out over Mourinho, Paul Lambert & Mark Hughes in battle for first of this seasons Manager of the Month gongs!

Get in! I was genuinely made up when I read this, and what's more a nice PR guy emailed me some images of Garry Monk with his award. Top work! Monk has scooped the award after leading his team to victory in all three of our opening Premier League games, as well as guiding us to victory in the League Cup game against Rotherham (though this wasn't taken into consideration, apparently).

Starting with victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford we've gone from strength to strength and along with Chelsea we're currently sitting on maximum points after three games. A glance around the top European league sees only Barcelona (6pts from 2 games), PSV (12 points from 4 games) and Bayer Leverkusen (6pts from 2 games) retaining maximum points from multiple games, which shows just how tough it is to get off to a flying start in one of the "big leagues" of European football.

With Gylfi Sigurdsson & Nathan Dyer missing out on the Player of the Month accolade let's hope this isn't the only award our boys pick up this season. As for Garry Monk though, no-one can deny he doesn't deserve this award, and he's already confounded critics who had us down to struggle.

Garry Monk spoke this week about ultimately aiming to qualify for Europe through our finishing league position. Keep this up, and that won't be too far off.
